Marissa Became Comfortable Setting Boundaries

Her journey has taught her to be more loving and understanding—especially toward herself.

Marissa’s relationship with her dad has always meant a lot to her, but they went through a tough time because he didn’t understand her substance use disorder (SUD). Even though they didn’t always agree, they’ve built a close relationship. Staying connected with him has been so important to Marissa as she works on her recovery.

Her journey has taught her to be more loving and understanding—especially toward herself. Marissa knows there’s no one right way to recover and believes every path is just as important. She’s also learned to set boundaries with people who don’t support her recovery. What matters most to her now is loving who she is and feeling proud of herself.
